Last week, International Alatoo University successfully hosted the 5th International Conference on Sustainable Development, attracting over 200 participants from 25 countries around the world.

The three-day conference featured keynote speeches, panel discussions, and workshops on various aspects of sustainable development, including renewable energy, climate change mitigation, sustainable urban planning, and the role of education in promoting sustainability.

Keynote speakers included Dr. Maria Rodriguez from the United Nations Development Programme, Professor James Chen from MIT, and Dr. Aisha Nkosi, a leading environmental activist and researcher from South Africa.

"The conference provided an excellent platform for sharing knowledge, experiences, and best practices in sustainable development," said Professor Alexei Petrov, the conference chair and Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences at International Alatoo University. "The diverse perspectives and expertise of the participants contributed to rich discussions and potential collaborations."

The conference also featured a student poster competition, where undergraduate and graduate students presented their research projects related to sustainable development. The first prize was awarded to a team of students from International Alatoo University for their innovative project on water conservation in urban areas.

The proceedings of the conference will be published in a special issue of the International Journal of Sustainable Development, and selected papers will be compiled into an edited volume to be published by Springer.
